Japanese Cuisine in Melbourne

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Melbourne, Australia has some extraordinary hospitality service and has some amazing places to wine and dine. I have migrated here for more than 6 years, I have been fortunate enough to have savored some of the world-class dishes from several culinary arts offered by restaurants in Melbourne.

Taking an interest in the Japanese culture, I have always craved for Japanese food. Since living in Melbourne, I have tried many japanese eateries and have tried many dishes that they have to offer. Some good and some bad, I can frequently tell if the food is good by the people running the restaurant. I have made my own presumption that if the restaurant is ran and worked by Japanese, the food that it makes is dependable.

There are many other Japanese cuisine franchises in Melbourne which are not owned and operated by Japanese. The level of service and quality of food that it makes are just astonishing. Yes, the price will be more inexpensive but the authenticity of the taste and the level of service that you are receiving is bad. If you are serious about Japanese food, take the time to explore and ask around. You will often find that there is a Japanese restaurant just around the corner from you that you have not noticed.

I find myself visiting this particular restaurant in Melbourne more often these days ” Takumi. They is based handily in the city and is accessible by public transportation. They differentiate themselves from the rest buy serving a fusion of modern japanese dishes with the main speciality of wagyu beef.. They are fully owned and operated by a Japanese family and the level of service that they have provided me is great. They offer a unique style of barbecue dishes with their modern smokeless bbq tables.

So, if you are visiting Australia, be sure to take the time to explore and visit the many Melbourne Japanese restaurants.

Getting Your Glider Protein

Monday, August 4th, 2008

While the largest portion of your sugar glider’s main diet will be fruits and veggies, it is still important not to neglect the protein side of their dietary needs. Their diet is 25 percent protein and in the wild they get that from insects and bugs and other small prey. That is also a large source of their vitamins and calcium as the bones of the prey is rich in those dietary needs.

In captivity it is not necessary to provide bugs and insects for your sugar glider’s well-being. It is much simpler to provide a good well-balanced pellet feed that will provide all of the protein and many of the vitamins needed for your sugar glider’s health. This is simple but it probably won’t be something you can obtain at your local grocery store like you can get your dog food or cat food. Sugar gliders are a very popular pet today, but they are still rather exotic and finding this type of food is usually best done online with specialty dealers who provide exclusive care products for your sugar glider.

Pocket Pets provides an excellent fully balanced ‘Glide-R-Chow’ that was designed with the cooperation of leading experts and veterinarians around the country in an effort to formulate a perfect sugar glider food that is also easy to use and stores well. These are all important aspects as you want to have a pellet that will not take a lot of time to prepare and feed your sugar glider, as well as one that will prevent waste as much as possible, and keep well during storage.

Your sugar glider’s needs are very easy to provide for and won’t take much time at all each evening when you get their daily meal together. Having all of the ingredients on hand makes it much less frustrating, and they will be happy and content as they give you their love and affection.

Buffalo Steak – Try Something New

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

When looking for something altogether new and unusual to put on the grill, buffalo steak has a familiar flavor that is just unusual enough to make itself memorable. Very similar to beef it has a comforting familiarity. However, it also has a certain something that people notice and will look forward to having again. Which explains why buffalo steak is becoming a popular alternative to beef.

Buffalo steak is usually described as having a sweeter flavor than beef, giving it an enjoyably distinctive taste. It is flavorful without being gamey, it is tender without being greasy, and it can be prepared just like steak. In fact, because buffalos and cows have essentially the same muscle groups, the cuts of meat are the same as you would find with beef. So, when you select a buffalo steak, you will know exactly what to expect from your meal.

However, the flavor is not the only reason to try buffalo steak. In fact, one of the best reasons to try buffalo steak is the fact that it is actually very good for you. Because buffalo is much lower in fat than beef or pork, buffalo steak is much easier on your body than other forms of red meat. Buffalo is remarkably lean for red meat, allowing people to feel much better about their selection of meat. So even the healthy crowd can feel good about choosing buffalo.

In fact, buffalo is so lean that you have to be careful with it when you cook it. Because fat is an insulator, it makes beef cook slowly. But, since buffalo is a very lean animal, the meat is very low in fat and, therefore, much healthier. Which also means that you need to be careful cooking a buffalo steak, since it will cook much faster than beef. So you should always be careful with buffalo on the grill or in the oven.

While the low fat and low cholesterol of buffalo steak is attractive, modern concerns about meat make buffalo even more attractive. Because buffalo graze on the free range, they are not as susceptible to mad cow disease as, let’s say, cows. This is because buffalo are allowed to go out onto the prairies and eat grass like normal herbivores, rather than eat cow renderings, such as regular cattle. And buffalo do not defecate in the streams and ponds where they drink, making them that much more sanitary. And, even more, they don’t require the steroids and antibiotics that cattle require, since buffalo tend to grow much larger than cows and are much more resistant to disease. Thus, buffalo are permitted to grow on their own and don’t require as many chemicals to stay healthy. Which means that buffalo steak is not as filled with chemicals as beef, making it a meat that is almost untainted by modern science.

Admittedly, buffalo steak is not the least expensive meat available. But, when you consider the fact that buffalo is a very healthy, very tasty alternative to beef, it is clearly an alternative worth exploring. So, if you are in the mood to stretch out and try something new, exciting, and well worth the effort, give a buffalo steak a try and see what a difference it can make.

Everything about steaks from cooking steaks, ordering them by mail, preparing steaks and much more including favorite recipes.
