Identifying Yourself to Your Consumer

Monday, June 30th, 2008

No matter what sort of business you may be growing there are several important ways to let the world of consumers know you exist. A business must have an identity and goal to present to the public. In order to gain business the people have to know what it is you have to offer, why they need it, and who you are.

One of the things that truthfully irks me is meeting a seemingly legitimate professional who then hands you a cheap card. Certainly it’s a superficial judgment, but the reasoning behind it is that someone with such a lack of concern with how not only they, but also their company, is presented has to be cutting corners elsewhere. Likewise I assume if they cutting corners, then business must not be going so well. There are standards by which you gain and project a sense of professionalism especially when a card is all you have to gain a person’s attention in a five-minute conversation.

Make them want to see you again. If you’ve handed out a card, then make sure there’s another breadcrumb for them to follow. Ideally you would have a website listed where they can gain a further understanding of what you do. You’ve gained the personal connection; now show them physical evidence in photos, products, and testimonials. A local design agency in the Inland Empire can develop these sorts of tools to help you succeed.

It’s Time To Step Up To The Plate, The World Needs Us, Printing, Promotional Products What’s Up!

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Look around. Hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, plant closures, hunger, dispair, you might think that the end was near. There are those that see the glass as half empty and others that see the glass as half full. Pessimists or optimists, it’s time for every body to step up to the plate. The analogy holds even as we watch the baseball playoffs. With all the tragedies, we live in a CNN now world. Hurricane Katrina while captivating everybody a few weeks ago, today is a memory to most. The good thoughts and instant charity contributions have now passed and the earthquake in Pakistan has now taken over the headlines. It is impossible to help all those that are effected and to help those until they overcome all their challenges.

Should we then just give up? I’m an optimist. I think that if you fight your way through the crap eventually you can see the light. After a while the tradgedy is just a memory. It’s the same way when we deal with a personal tradgedy. Seeing some one with a terminal disease can overcome many. You forget the world around you and concentrate all your time and effort on this person and rightly so. Unfortunately as the term terminal dictates the effected soul succombs to the disease. As hard as it is we some how find the strength to carry on. We carry on for our spouse, we carry on for our children, we carry on for the wishes of the deceased and we carry on for our selves. Days turn into weeks and the pain and memories become less and less. Concurring with this observation does not mean we should do nothing. Making a gesture to help or bring momentary joy to someone is not useless. No one knows how much time we have in this world and we should cherish each and every moment.

What can we do to help? Every one should look around and see what they can do. I own a printing and promotional items company. My little gesture is to sell Christmas Cards drawn by disadvantaged youth and give the proceeds back to their special school. A second thing that I am doing is to capitalize on a popular trend. American Apparel clothing has become trendy and I am offering them at a 25% discount and also give some of the proceeds to both local and international charities. We all must do our share . If I bring joy or help one person or family then it is worth it. Can I save the world? Can I help all the recent victims of natural disasters? Probably not. But if we, those that haven’t been affected by these tradgedies, do our part we can surely put a dent into the challenges of these people. Doctor’s could donate an hour a week to those who have no money, Pharmaceutical companies could donate drugs to those victims, Home Renovation stores could give employee discounts to any victims, the list can go on and on.

If we don’t try the world is sure to be doomed. Let’s help create a better world for all. We are now in the Holiday period, let’s all think of ways to make this a really joyous occasion.

The Struggle Against Bad Credit

Most consumers can attest to the fact that rising health insurance costs, gas prices, education fees, rent and mortgages costs are taking a toll on the best of us. Add this predicament to job cuts, low increases in pay and your have a perfect storm of consumers relying on their credit cards and loans to pay for their everyday expenses.

If you’ve been through the pain of a car repossession, bankruptcy or foreclosure – you may feel like, you will never get out of the hole.

This is not true.

What this means is that, if you are serious about fixing your credit, you can get a new line of credit and start paying your bills on time. This will prove to your creditors that you are responsible.

If you have not done so already, you can get a copy of your government credit report – it’s free per the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Your credit report will detail any loans and credit card bills that are delinquent and/or in good standing.

Waterwise Xeriscaping for an Extraordinary Spring Garden

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Now that spring is officially (on the calendar, at least), it’s time to think about how to turn your garden from ordinary to extraordinary.

One way to do that is to think in terms of xeriscaping. The term means to use waterwise plants, which is especially useful in dry climates. Xeric species make gardening easier because they’re drought resistant, and friendlier to the environment, because they use less water to provide lushness in both flowers and foliage. Most xeric plants are also perennials, so they will continue to flourish for years without having to be replanted every spring.

There are many types of gardens that can also create spectacular effects. For instance, formal gardens are meant to convey a sense of power over the environment through the use of carefully trimmed hedges and symmetrical layouts. This type of garden was especially popular during Elizabethan times. They require considerably more work, but the overall effort can be very dramatic.

A woodland garden can also be beautiful, using a combination of plants that can tolerate shade and partial sunlight. The idea is to mimic the randomness of the forest floor, and augment that with the use of stone and wood to create a warm and inviting feeling. Water elements are often used, as well as stone bridges and walkways. The idea is to work with the space and make it feel as if everything belongs there within a naturalistic setting.

If your space is truly limited, you can still create spectacular effects by creating a container garden. These are particularly effective in an urban setting, especially in a courtyard or on a patio. By using varying sizes and shapes of containers and mixing various textures and colors together, you can create stunning effects without having to have a large amount of space.

Another garden that can create a wonderfully organic effect is the wildflower garden. As the name suggests, the aim is to recreate the randomness you’d find in an open meadow. The overall effect can be quite breathtaking, and sowing the seeds can be as simple as just sprinkling handfuls of wildflower seeds around your garden area. A pleasant bonus to this type of garden is that it will attract lots of birds and butterflies, as well, which will provide even more enjoyment for nature lovers.

You don’t have to spend huge amounts of money to create extraordinary garden spaces. It just requires thought and imagination.

Beware of Spyware

Friday, June 20th, 2008

One day, you suddenly realize that your computer started to work
noticeably slower than it used to. You decide to run
de-fragmentation of your hard drive and add more virtual memory
to the system. No luck! May be, it’s probably some viruses, you
reckon turning on your virus scanning software. Even after
running the anti-virus program you notice that the problem won’t
resolve. Not understanding what’s happening frustrated you pick
up the phone. It’s time to call your tech-support. Sounds
familiar? You are not alone! Each day, thousands of users are
facing similar problems caused by malicious software called
Spyware. According to Dell technical support, nowadays 12
percent of their support calls involve problems related to some
kinds of Spyware. Microsoft reports that fifty percent of all
computer crushes are caused by Spyware, viruses and Trojans.

What is a Spyware?

Spyware – also named Malware or Adware – are malicious software
programs, which most of the time get installed on your computer
without your knowledge. These programs are capable of doing many
outrageous, sinister things to your computer such as changing
computer settings, tracking your online behavior, monitoring and
controlling your computer, recording your keystrokes, displaying
unwanted advertisement and reporting needed information back to
the person behind it.

The main types of Spyware are:

Key loggers: This type of Spyware copies everything you type to
a file and send it to the hacker. The more sophisticated type,
which is used for identity theft, copies the information you
provide when you are connected to a secure website.

Browser hijacker: It modifies browser settings without your
permission. This Spyware is capable of changing your start page,
search page, search tool bar and redirect your url to specific
pages.

Email redirector: Surreptitiously copies all your incoming and
outgoing emails and sends to the hacker.

Dialers: This spyware install themselves to your dial-up settings
and dials numbers without your knowledge, often to out of country
numbers.

Collectware: The purpose of this Spyware is to track your surfing
habit and transmitting the statistical data to the hacker. This
information later gets sold to advertisement companies.

Adware: This Spyware downloads all sorts of banner advertisements
every time you take some action such as typing a word on your
search tool.

Why my antivirus program does not block a Spyware?

Although, Spyware uses same tactics like “Trojan” virus,
technically it is not a virus. A virus is a program written to
create trouble or possibly harm your computer system. Viruses are
capable of replicate, evolve and cause severe damages to your
computer files, registry or even hardware. Spyware, on the other
hand, does not harm your computer intentionally. Any nuisance
like system slow down is the collateral damage, which occurs
while the Spyware serves its mission of monitoring your
activities and making unwanted changes to your user experience.

People rarely read the fine prints of the user agreements while
downloading a file, a program, a game or other free stuffs from
the Internet. Unethical sites use this to their advantage and
add tiny Spyware with the file you are downloading.

The anti-virus programs can not be sure, whether this program is
installed deliberately by you or it’s a malicious Spyware. This
makes identifying and blocking a Spyware difficult for an
Anti-virus program. However, things are started to change! Major
anti-virus companies are planning to integrate anti-spyware
programs to their existing products very soon.

How did I get infected with a Spyware?

There are numerous ways how you might end up with having a
Spyware on your system.

- When you download and install programs, games, smilies, pictures, screensavers from dubious sites, there is a big chance that you might install a sneaky Spyware along the way.

- Some websites and pop-up windows try to download and install Spyware while you are there. According a recent analysis of sex-based websites, up to 80 percent of these sites are now being used to upload Spyware, worms and Trojans to unsuspecting visitors.

- Some add-ons to you browser that is supposed to enhance your browser experience may secretively install Spyware.

- The most cynical method of infecting you with Spyware is when you receive a sudden pop-up ad, which claims that your computer is contaminated and you have to run certain program to cure your system. If you are credulous enough to run this program, it just installs a Spyware instead of eliminating any.

How to fight back?

If you carefully follow the instructions outlined below, your chances
of getting infected with Spyware are pretty slim.

Update your Windows
Allow your version of Windows to update it automatically. Ensure that
you have all the latest security patches installed.

Use Firefox as your default browser
Since Internet Explorer is the main target for many Spyware, you will
be better of with Mozilla Firefox. Moreover, it is a better browser
than IE in many aspects.

Be extremely careful with your downloads
Try not to download anything from a unknown site. If you still feel
like getting a shareware or freeware program check it out on one of
these online Spyware database. Spychecker (http://www.spychecker.com/)
is one such service, and Camtech 2000’s Spy Chaser
(http://camtech2000.net/Pages/SpyChaser.html)
is a nifty downloadable database of nearly
1000 spyware-infested programs.

Use an Anti-Spyware application
Download and install one of the following anti-spyware programs:
Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/),
Spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html)
and Microsoft AntiSpyware. Although, Microsoft’s Anti-Spyware

is still at beta stage, I am using it and very happy
with its performance.

Get a Firewall
If you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2, you are probably
fine! In other cases, if your computer is connected to the Internet
directly you should get a firewall and install it. Zone alarm

(http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp) is a
great firewall you can download for free.

A recently conducted survey of the Top Network Security threats in
2005 reveals that two-thirds of IT managers and administrators
believe that Spyware will be the number one threat to network
security. So don’t take any chance! Make sure that you are protected!

Friday, June 20th, 2008

Bond together two of everybody’s ultimate quests and what you’ll expose is a trend that’s commonly termed a web based sportsbook. Would you know of anything that could be more creative? If you visualize a bunch of fanatics cheering any given preferred sports heroes, and incessantly antes will be proclaimed to go with the rumpus. Enthusiastic to participate in of the action, on-lookers will commonly strive to divine who will win in the imminent race. In the end, this eventually turns into a sociable little race called web based sportsbook. Owners approve Sonics move to Okla. City

It might well sound quite addicting instead sportsbook gambling is actually purely entertaining and to connect with fellow sports buddies. Here, you’ll be able to bet a a trivial amount of wampum and all the same enjoy a ultra cool time. Read on a lot of basic infos to get you started sportsbook gambling.

In order to place that bet, I would advise you drop by at a web based sportsbook, which is a place that admits web based sportsbook. In the USA, there’s no less than four states to do sportsbook gambling in a legit manner, but informally you may do it everywhere so long as you determine a bookie and happen to be of age. Included among the sports activities you can choose to risk your money on are pro and, likewise, college basketball and college football, pro baseball and hockey, and, likewise, betting on both horse and dog racing. You’ll have a choice of wagering on the overall results of a competition, in what round a contester will be defeated, and even whether a given coin toss in a competition will land either heads or tails.

The bookie outfit will depend on stats be of assistance to you determine which sports heroes you may sense will win. First thing you’ll find the spread, i.e. specific points lead tallied to the losing party that is expected to be beaten by a specified number points. This comprises the sportsbook company’s official process of organizing stakes for a sports book. E.g. we might bet on a lineup that is expected to be beaten and and all the same win the bet so long as the party goes down by a specified number of points.

There are obviously so many differing styles of antes– straight bets, where all you have to do is to specify the contestant which you feel will prevail or be defeated, parlay stakes, teasers and plenty more, the straight being the most prevalent in sportsbook gambling. So, why don’t you simply take a stab at it and entertain yourself simultaneously? But determine that you won’t get overpowered and fritter your total retirement pension frivolously. After all you’ll likely be caught repenting for life.

Longer Drives: The Pursuit of the Elusive “Few More Yards”

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

In my years as a professional club fitter/builder, and the years before that I spent as a player, I do not recall anyone asking for less distance in favor of accuracy. In my studies of club fitting, every book and courses first step is the player interview. Every form for an online fitting has the question “what are you looking for in a new set of clubs” Virtually all answers are more distance. I had a call a while ago from a potential customer. He told me that he hit his drives about 250 yards off the tee, and in the fairway. He wanted to get another 25 yards! Every brand name club manufacturer, when marketing a new driver, makes the claim of longer distance. The point is that almost all golfers desire and try to get that “few extra yards.”

How can all the drivers on the market be the longest? Of course, they cannot. When you hear these claims, how confident are you in them? Is there anyone that can get you those few yards? I may have a skewed perspective, but I tell my customers that I can guarantee more yards off the tee! In truth, there are very few golfers that I can’t get to hit it a bit farther. While I guarantee more yards, I do not guarantee direction. Harvey Penick, who is arguably the best golf teacher of all times, said that “the woods are full of long drives.” I’m going to show some “trade secrets” of longer drives.

The fact is that the vast majority of golfers have miss-fit equipment. The fitting process is a juggling act of trade-offs to achieve maximum performance. Properly fit clubs can help you attain more yards. What equipment changes can you make to result in more distance?

There are two ways to increase distance. The first is to increase your swing speed. An increase in swing speed of 1-2 mph can result in a distance gain of 2-6 yards. How can you increase your swing speed? The most obvious way is to increase the length of your club. If you have your club lengthened inch, you can see a swing speed increase of 1-2 mph. That does not mean that you should lengthen your driver 4 inches to get up to 48 yards more on your drives. Length is a quick way to increase swing speed, but it is also a quick way to get your swing off line resulting in shots that are not playable. It would increase the overall weight of the club causing you to lose control. If you decide on a longer club, choose a lightweight shaft. This will help maintain control over head of the club so you can bring it to the square position and on the correct swing plane at impact. You can find out if length will help distance without a lot of cost by adding an extender to your driver. This is cost effective, and can be brought back to the original length, if needed. I also recommend not extending any club more than 1 inches as this could create a stress point on the shaft, increasing the possibility of breakage. Some players can get a swing speed gain by reshafting with a lightweight shaft and decreasing the overall weight of the club.

There are equipment changes that can add distance.
1. Get a bigger club head. If you haven’t made the move to the larger head clubs, it may be the time. The larger the head the greater the COR, (what some call the trampoline effect); the farther the ball will travel. In addition, the larger head allows for greater perimeter weighting, which helps the ball go straighter on off- center hits.

2. Get lofty. A mere 5 years ago, many golfers, especially with high swing speeds, were going lower on the lofts of their drivers. The thought was that by lowering the loft you would produce more roll. Today with all the data from launch monitors, we have learned that higher lofts mean more distance. Also, ball technology has increased and balls are now being made with less spin. Backspin on the golf ball is what causes it to fly higher. Less spin makes the ball fly lower, so to get the maximum distance, you need more loft on the driver. Even the fastest swingers in golf are going to higher lofts than they used a couple of years ago.

3. Get flexible. Shaft flex can also get the ball further down the fairway. I’ve stated before that club fitting is a juggling act. As a general rule the more flexible shaft a golfer can use and still control direction, the more distance. Most male golfers have a mindset that they need a stiff shafted club. The majority would be better off with a softer flex.

Start with these three tips and you can be on your way to more yards off the tee and shorter irons shots to the green.

Buffalo Steak – Try Something New

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

When looking for something altogether new and unusual to put on the grill, buffalo steak has a familiar flavor that is just unusual enough to make itself memorable. Very similar to beef it has a comforting familiarity. However, it also has a certain something that people notice and will look forward to having again. Which explains why buffalo steak is becoming a popular alternative to beef.

Buffalo steak is usually described as having a sweeter flavor than beef, giving it an enjoyably distinctive taste. It is flavorful without being gamey, it is tender without being greasy, and it can be prepared just like steak. In fact, because buffalos and cows have essentially the same muscle groups, the cuts of meat are the same as you would find with beef. So, when you select a buffalo steak, you will know exactly what to expect from your meal.

However, the flavor is not the only reason to try buffalo steak. In fact, one of the best reasons to try buffalo steak is the fact that it is actually very good for you. Because buffalo is much lower in fat than beef or pork, buffalo steak is much easier on your body than other forms of red meat. Buffalo is remarkably lean for red meat, allowing people to feel much better about their selection of meat. So even the healthy crowd can feel good about choosing buffalo.

In fact, buffalo is so lean that you have to be careful with it when you cook it. Because fat is an insulator, it makes beef cook slowly. But, since buffalo is a very lean animal, the meat is very low in fat and, therefore, much healthier. Which also means that you need to be careful cooking a buffalo steak, since it will cook much faster than beef. So you should always be careful with buffalo on the grill or in the oven.

While the low fat and low cholesterol of buffalo steak is attractive, modern concerns about meat make buffalo even more attractive. Because buffalo graze on the free range, they are not as susceptible to mad cow disease as, let’s say, cows. This is because buffalo are allowed to go out onto the prairies and eat grass like normal herbivores, rather than eat cow renderings, such as regular cattle. And buffalo do not defecate in the streams and ponds where they drink, making them that much more sanitary. And, even more, they don’t require the steroids and antibiotics that cattle require, since buffalo tend to grow much larger than cows and are much more resistant to disease. Thus, buffalo are permitted to grow on their own and don’t require as many chemicals to stay healthy. Which means that buffalo steak is not as filled with chemicals as beef, making it a meat that is almost untainted by modern science.

Admittedly, buffalo steak is not the least expensive meat available. But, when you consider the fact that buffalo is a very healthy, very tasty alternative to beef, it is clearly an alternative worth exploring. So, if you are in the mood to stretch out and try something new, exciting, and well worth the effort, give a buffalo steak a try and see what a difference it can make.

Everything about steaks from cooking steaks, ordering them by mail, preparing steaks and much more including favorite recipes.

Change Your Lifestyle and Control Hiatal Hernia

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Hiatal hernia (often referred to as hiatus hernia) is the protrusion (or hernia) of the upper part of the stomach into the thorax through a tear or weakness in the diaphragm

Hiatal hernias may develop in people of all ages and both sexes, although it is considered to be a condition of middle age. In fact, the majority of otherwise normal people past the age of 50 have small hiatal hernias.

Lifestyle adjustments to control a hiatal hernia

If you’re overweight, losing weight alone may relieve your symptoms.

If you smoke, quit.

Do not wear tight clothes around your chest or abdomen (belly). They put pressure on your stomach.

Elevate the head of your bed 6 inches by placing blocks under the bed frame. Gravity will help prevent stomach acid from moving up into your esophagus as you sleep. Using a foam wedge to raise your mattress also may help. Don’t try to use pillows, which tend to increase pressure on your abdomen.

It is important to avoid large meals. Eating small, frequent, bland meals to keep pressure on the esophageal sphincter.

Do not eat for at least 2 hours before going to sleep.

Avoid spicy and acidic foods.

Do not bend over or lie down after eating.
